Feel free to use this thread for general server discussion, for things that don't fit in the other threads. This is for things such as: rules you might like to see. General ideas for what you might want on the server, systems, monsters, ect.
As it is the general server set up will be this:
Joining the server you will be given a choice: Good or Evil. This alignment is not 100% enforced beyond you cannot choose the alignment opposite your character's ideals (e.g. if you are literally playing a good person, do not choose evil). This will be able to be changed in ooc by a dm if necessary. The reason for this is for mechanics - certain spells and abilities are dependent on alignment and we don't want to encourage people to 'hide' as neutral alignments just to avoid them. You can still play a neutral character, just choose the best fit alignment for pvp purposes.
After that, you'll have a choice of what city you want to start in. From there on out, changing your city will take serious rp. You'll need to be accepted by the other city ICly to change over, so choose your starting city carefully. Once in your starting city you can get level 40, and set yourself up to jump into pvp immediately, or go hunting for gear.
Items on the server will come in two types: crafted and non-crafted.
All items will drop from monsters in the wilds, though some will drop in pieces: a hilt, a blade, ect. that will need to be placed together and crafted before it can be used. Part of the crafting process will allow you to choose certain statistics of these crafted items, making each item a bit unique to that person.

Just a few question that i think should be talked about or decided about.
Will pvp be redlight able or does anyone loggin in to the server has to face pvp if aproached with it? Will there be a limit for chars per account and or accounts per player (even through the later is difficult to oversight)? Is a player allowed to make chars in all the cities and/or good and evil or only one choice per player (to avoid metagaming)? Will DM´s on the server have the same rules they have on Sinfar (i.e no playerhouse access without consent of the owner)? Will there be a limit for houses per player(char)? Will there be pvp everywhere on the server without consent or will pvp require playerconsent first?
Thats so far, i know some may sound silly perhaps even all of them but it wont hurt to think about them at least one time XD

Redlights are for sexual things only, fetishes, ect. PvP will be enabled server wide however, yes. I don't know why we'd ever put a limit on characters or accounts. You can make characters wherever you want. If someone metagames they'll be dealt with. DM's will not be snooping on players in obviously private locations, no. Unless there is substantial reason to believe there is some kind of rule-breaking going on. Houses will be harder to come by here yes, since we're not a social focused server. Certain city positions (such as the / , ect.) will come with living quarters so long as you are in that position. Individual homes for players will be limited in number. I would not expect there to be a house for everyone. PvP will be everywhere, as stated above.

Just because the term redlight is used for sexual dislikes in general, doesnt mean its isnt useable in other categories, either. What i mean is, can i walk a street and refuse the attempt of other players to start a pvp fight with me and keep walking?

You forget that consent system is built in with an override which can be overcome without your consent by three people hostiling you at the same time. As for your question I've already said: every area will be pvp enabled. You could be attacked at any time, but if someone is doing such for a griefing reason, they'll be taken care of. It's a pvp/rp server after all, why would there be non-pvp areas?

Part of the crafting process will allow you to choose certain statistics of these crafted items, making each item a bit unique to that person. Will the player have to go and find someone in order to craft this equipment or something? Because that would be nice, rather then having a mage do something like craft a great sword or some sort of other melee weapon, but having them craft a staff l could see happening. Like a job system that players have to put points into to make them weapon and armor smith, or a arcane enchanter to make robes with spell slots or a mage staff type of thing, a tailor to craft the cloth type armor. Mind you I am speaking about the drops you get and all. ^_^ . . . But give the character like 2 points per level up to the cap of levels. Though anyone can craft it but with a chance of failure to it unless you are spec'ed into the skill of doing it. Like a mage making a longsword with with something on it would have a 20% chance of making it, but someone that is a weapon smith with enough points would have a 100% at making it, ect. Though that is just a example really, the % could very. But I could see this build RP between characters and force them to meet new people. Another thing would be player shops which would be nice. If someone have a item they do want, or wish to sell off because they need it, or want to run a shop.

Typically all requiring certain skills to make certain items does is force people to make crafter characters which sit in the vault unused until they're needed to make something. Likely items that you can make (beyond the ones that obviously need brew potion, scribe scroll, ect. as feats) will be made by everyone in a forge or by an npc for a cost.

You're all going to hate me for suggesting this... One suggestion I think that will be critical to the success of this server would be to not allow player housing on this server. One reason that Sinfar lacks any real story generation is the fact that everyone can just buy a little plot and play of their own castle.. If this happens on this planar prison.. There will not be much incentive to build community RP.. It will just end up being another place where folks can clique up and hide themselves away in their own personal fortress of solitude. This being said one of Sinfar's greatest strengths is the ability for players to customize the server they play on.. And this should hardly be taken away.. Perhaps just allow for the creation of new public zones on the server.. But honestly, there doesn't seem to be a need for a hundred different bars and inns on a server that's themed as a prison. The original Styss server was quite small when you think back on it.. And because of this it was very easy for the factions to find one another and create interactions.. Think too big, and create too many areas, and you're dashing the hopes of bringing everyone together to pvp/rp. If players want to play house.. Keep it on the pre-existing Sinfar areas.. I think that this server needs to dedicate itself fully towards making itself stand apart from the other server.. Or all of this effort is simply wasted breath.

I was actually thinking long and hard on this very point when I brought the decision to Mavrixio. Even he said, we needed to be careful to focus on what's important to the server, and not become sinfar 2.0, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Player housing, is a delicate topic, and something we definitely need to discuss. I figured, worst comes to worst, -if- we have player housing at all, it will be for very select few people, such as the faction leaders, but then again, I don't see why we can't just have a throne room and locked doors they get a key to for their time as leader. I can definitely say, if there's any housing on the server, it will not be enough for everyone, and this will be deliberate. I think it's still a discussion we need to have though.

Tread carefully indeed.. A throne room for faction leaders is all well and good.. But if it goes much further than that.. There will undoubtedly be talk of favoritism when it's decided who gets the 'honors' of occupying these hot pieces of real estate.. Better I think to go with your idea of having a key to the castle throne room for faction leaders.. Which broaches another thing I'm curious about. It's well known that the 'election' system on old Styss was a total crock. Folks would make fake forum accts and even create toons they barely ever play in order to cast votes for themselves or the person they favor. Will the leaders of these factions be chosen by their people? Or do you, the devs intend on ruling over everyone in these cities? It might even be better perhaps to forgo the castle and 'official' leadership altogether.. Why not just let things work themselves out naturally.. Establish three distinct teams.. And see how they end up governing themselves through rp, rather than just seating someone in charge of it all.. After all.. You're claiming that this place is planar prison.. Sure there will be a hierarcy within the factions.. But to say that there's a / that governs these factions seems awfully unrealistic towards the theme you are trying to create.

I do like the idea of people leading themselves and in fact, choosing how they pick their leaders. I'll likely only step in if things are going south (obviously the good of the server trumps all, and I'm not about to step in just because one person complains, but I did hear that the reason the last incarnation of styss fell apart was because the tens leader was...less than desirable. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard it was a cause of stagnation). But yes, I like things being player driven.

I think the fall of Styss was a combination of things.. People unhappy with the In character leadership, and the DM's bad habits of playing favorites..
On a server based around pvp where everyone wants to win.. Emotions tend to run on high at times, and that is unavoidable.. I think that the more you strive towards setting everyone on equal footing, the less chance there will be issues of jealousy or bad leadership..
If the RP dictates that a leader arises.. The people will have elected it to happen that way in game and throuh RP.. Rather than officially instating them for a 'term'.. Why not just let an 'unofficial' leader take over until the RP shifts and people decide to follow someone with better ideals/goals.. It seems like a much safer way to avoid the issues that plagued the old server.. And would likely make the chances of you needing to intervene much less frequent.
Power goes to peoples heads.. If that power isn't absolute, any given leader will think twice and consider the needs of those following him/her before acting selfishly.

When you say an 'unofficial leader' do you mean having temporary player leaders until a more permanent one gets settled? Or an npc?

How about playerchars dont earn their ic right to vote for a leader with creation, rather earn it by roleplay presence. Say every created char starts as a low commoner and with roleplay acitivty they can become a full citizen and earn their right to vote. That would make alt chars unable to cast a vote.

By 'unofficial' I meant that perhaps it might be easier for everyone if people just choose who they want to follow at any given time rather than having a permanent leader at all. This may of course breed clans or sub-factions within any of the cities, but hey, it all makes for more interesting RP and saves everyone the stress of having to worry about a popularity contest vote that's bound to end up in headache one way or another.
It all comes back to the theme you've posted: Planar Prison. I LOVE this idea.. But it seems rather silly that a prison would support any form of monarchy system.. It's a prison for crying out loud.. Let anarchy rule!
